Jurors returned their verdict in former Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin's trial and found him guilty of second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter.
The jury went through 13 days of emotional testimony and began deliberations Monday after hearing both prosecution and defense's closing arguments.
Their deliberations lasted 10.5 hours before reaching the verdict Tuesday afternoon.
"Believe your eyes," Prosecutor Steve Schleicher told jurors in his closing argument. "Unreasonable force, pinning him to the ground - that's what killed him. this was a homicide."
"This case is exactly what you thought when you first saw it," he added. "It's exactly what you saw with your eyes. It's exactly what you knew. it's exactly what you felt in your gut. it's what you know in your heart. this wasn't policing, this was murder."
