A California grandmother was badly injured after a hate crime on a bus she was riding to get to the supermarket Friday.
The unidentified woman took the 81 bus and was about to leave when a passenger attacked her and began beating her and calling her anti-Chinese epithets.
The elderly victim was dragged along the vehicle, from back to front, without anyone interfering to help her.
“Nobody would help. Not even the bus driver,” the victim’s son said.
Photos of the victim show a severely bruised face and swollen eyes. Her son added that she had a broken nose and a concussion. The arthritis sufferer could no longer walk due to a leg injury.
One of the witnesses ultimately decided to call 911 leading to the arrest of Yasmine Beasley.
The 23-year-old assailant was charged with a felony and is being held on a $130,000 bond.
