A Pentagon Force Protection Agency Police officer has been arrested and charged after fatally shooting two people while off-duty on Wednesday.
David Hall Dixon told responding officers that he shot Dominique Williams and James Lionel Johnson, ages 32 and 38, because he thought they were trying to steal a car.
Dixon added that he “engaged the suspects who failed to follow his direction” and tried to escape, prompting him to “discharge his service weapon.”
The incident occurred at the parking lot area of the Takoma Overlook Condominiums.
A third man believed to be the vehicle’s driver was also shot.
Both men were pronounced dead at a local hospital at around 6 a.m.
Dixon was charged with second-degree murder, attempted murder, and reckless endangerment as the investigation continues.
