The Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office announced late Tuesday that former NFL wide receiver Travis Rudolph is behind bars on first-degree murder and attempted murder charges.
The 25-year-old was arrested shortly after midnight and transported to the county jail after being linked to a double-shooting that left one man dead and another injured.
“Shortly after midnight, deputies responded to a double shooting that stemmed from an altercation in the 500 block of N Redwood Drive, Lake Park,” the police statement read.
“Upon arrival deputies learned that one male was transported to a local hospital for treatment and another male was located a short distance away deceased in the city of West Palm Beach.”
“Further investigation led to the identity of the suspect, Travis Rudolph. Rudolph was located, arrested, and transported to the PBC Jail on charges of First Degree Murder and Attempted Murder. NO BOND.”
Rudolph's brief NFL career started at West Palm Beach’s Cardinal Newman High School where he earned second-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors.
He then signed on with the NY Giants and recorded eight catches for 101 yards before moving to the Miami Dolphins in 2018.
He ended his professional football career signing briefly with Canadian Winnipeg Bombers.
