Hampton County Police responded on January 20 to a Brunson residence where a six-year-old boy was being attacked by a dog.
Upon their arrival, the boy was dead and the dog found at the scene and euthanized. It was a pitbull breed.
“On Wednesday afternoon, Hampton County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residence on Mullins Ford Rd in Brunson regarding a juvenile being attacked by a dog,” Police said.
“Officers located the 6 years old male child, who was deceased. Hampton County Animal Control also responded to the scene.”
“The dog was located a short time later, apprehended by Hampton County Animal Control, and has been euthanized. The case has been turned over to SLED [Law Enforcement Division.]”
The Hampton County Coroner Assistant Preston Altman described the incident as tragic.
“It’s very unfortunate and very sad, and our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time.”
