DC news, Washington news.

Washington DC officials are working to secure the city and the Capitol ahead of January 20, the day of President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration.

Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy said that no less than 6,200 National Guard troops will be deployed to the capital over next week as part of the efforts to secure the inauguration ceremony.

He also said that a 7-foot unscalable fence is being installed around the Capitol Building to prevent rioters from scaling over it or at least slow them.

Capitol Police has been under fire since Wednesday’s riots that left five dead including a member of theirs.
