DC news, Washington news.

House Democrats are planning to hold a vote session of impeachment against President Trump next week amid reports of Vice President Mike Pence’s reluctance to invoke the 25th Amendment.

Speaking to CNN, Assistant House Speaker Katherine Clark said that the impeachment articles could be taken up next week if the 25th amendment were not invoked.

“Every day that Donald Trump is President of the United States is a day of grave danger,” she said.

“Donald Trump needs to be removed from office. And we’re going to proceed with every tool that we have to make sure that that happens to protect our democracy.”

“We face obstruction and attempt to delay us by the GOP defenders, but we’re resolute. We will act to protect the American people.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has reportedly discussed the move with her aides late Thursday.

Trump would be the first US President impeached twice if it occurs but it is unlikely that the required two-thirds of the Senate would approve his impeachment.
