Infuriated GOP members give up on Trump following Capitol mayhem: ‘Enough is Enough’

DC news, Washington news.

The Capitol invasion may have had one positive aspect: The GOP Senate finally realizing that following Trump’s steps could lead nowhere else but to violence.

When Congress reconvened late Wednesday, House and Senate lawmakers were still under the shock of what had just happened: The iconic building of Washington DC and the heart of the entire country had just been vandalized and stormed with looters.

The event came as dozens of GOP members planned to reject electoral results in several key states and even issued a public statement over their plot.

But after seeing “the sanctity of their offices” violated, they knew the minds had to change.

“Count me out. Enough is Enough,” Sen. And Trump ally Lindsey Graham said on the floor. “When it’s over, it’s over, and it is over.”

“When I arrived in Washington this morning, I fully intended to object to the certification of the electoral votes,” Loeffler said.

“However, the events that have transpired today have forced me to reconsider. And I cannot now, in good conscience, object to the certification of electoral votes.”

When the session resumed Sen Lankford spoke of the voter fraud commission he previously requested along with fellow Republicans.

“Obviously, the commission that we have asked for is not going to happen. And we’re headed tonight toward the certification of Joe Biden to be the President of the United States,” he said.
