The family of an Alabama hunter found his lifeless body in the woods hours after he vanished and authorities believe he dies after falling from a tree.
The 52-year-old man fell to his death Tuesday from a hunting stand in the woods of northern Jefferson County at noon.
He has left the family home for a hunting trip early in the morning but never returned prompting relatives to look for him.
When they made the grim discovery, they contacted the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and reported the incident.
“This man was doing everything right when it comes to hunting safety and a heartbreaking accident took his life,” Sgt. Joni Money confirmed in a statement.
The investigation into the incident continues though no foul play is suspected.
A similar accident took place mid-November when a hunter fell from his tree stand in West Virginia and stopped breathing after hitting his head into a rock. He died at the scene.
