A gruesome double murder of two children has shocked the Lancaster community last week as neighbors and friends struggle to understand what could’ve led a beloved fitness trainer to decapitate two of his kids.
Maurice Taylor was arrested, strapped to a gurney on Dec.4, after the bodies of his 13-year-old daughter and 12-year-old son were discovered decapitated with “lacerations and stab wounds.”
What added to the mystery was that police found two other children at the home while neighbors said that they always believed the Taylors had only two children.
“I remember that house just seemed weird anytime I was there. I never saw anybody come out of that house. It almost seemed like the windows were all blacked out,” a neighbor said.
Clients of Taylor who’ve been taking online classes remembered hearing the coach’s wife yelling at him while he worked.
“He had been living under a tremendous amount of pressure,” Attorney Howard Kern said of Taylor. “It was embarrassing-you could hear her yelling at him. He’d be very apologetic and she’d be yelling at him.”
Taylor is being held in lieu of $2 million bond. His wife was also arrested for questioning.
