Nascar crew member and newlywed bride killed in head-on collision on honeymoon trip

Days after their wedding, a Nascar pit crew member and his wife have died at the scene of a fatal crash while on their way to Florida Keys Tuesday night.

William “Rowdy” Harrell, 30, and Blakley, 23, were traveling on US 1 in Lower Matecumbe Key when their car veered over the line into oncoming traffic and crashed head-on into a Ford F-250 pickup truck.

The couple was pronounced dead at the scene while the 62-year-old driver of the pickup truck suffered minor injuries.

    The Concord where Harrell worked as a pit crew member for eight seasons issued a statement following the tragedy.

    “Our entire team is absolutely devastated at the loss of Rowdy and Blakley. They were such positive, giving, and passionate people who could not have been a more perfect match.”
