Ashland news, Oregon news.

A fatal shooting took place earlier this week outside an Oregon motel over loud music, Ashland Police said.

The victim, 19-year-old Aidan Ellison, entered in a heated argument at around 4:20 a.m. Monday with a man, Robert Keegan, who complained about him playing music so loudly.

“On arrival, a man was found deceased, having suffered a single gunshot wound to his chest,” police said. “Ashland Fire and Rescue responded to the scene to attempt to render aid, however, the man was beyond help.”

“The suspect in the shooting was still on scene and was immediately detained, and later taken into custody. The investigation indicates that Keegan and the victim, who did not know each other, were engaged in an argument in the parking lot.”

The 47-year-old suspect has been staying at the motel with his son after losing their home in the September wildfires.

He was charged with second-degree murder, first-degree manslaughter, unlawful possession of a firearm, and recklessly endangering another person.
