Homicide investigation launched in South Bend, Ind. after dead woman found in road

A Riverside Place resident leaving for work at around 4:15 a.m. Wednesday came upon a grisly discovery, according to the St. Joseph County Police.

The body of a deceased woman was found on the road at the intersection of Riverside Place and Riverside Drive, near Keller Park.

The victim had blunt force trauma to her body which led police to consider her death as a homicide and launch an investigation.

    The St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit canvassed the area as the investigation proceeds. Officials urged anyone with information regarding the death to call (574) 288 STOP.

    An autopsy is set to be performed in the coming days. An immediate cause of death is yet to be determined.
