A drive-by shooting has cost the life of an innocent 10-year-old girl who was fatally injured in her sleep earlier this month.
The Carter County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday that three men have been arrested and charged with the murder of Lillyhanna Davis.
Davis was asleep in her bed at around 5:30 a.m. Nov. 17 when a stray bullet passed through her room wall and hit her head.
The suspects were identified as Jediah Shane Glover and Zachary Scott Scalf, both 20, and 18-year-old Jason Bryan Barber.
They were charged with first-degree murder, criminal conspiracy, aggravated assault, and a slew of other charges.
“I heard my husband hollering for her and we ran in there and my baby was gone. You don’t ever want to wake up to your baby and all you see is blood,” Lillyhanna’s grieving mom said.
She described her late daughter as helpful at home, hardworking in school, and lovely to her siblings.
“Whoever did this, they took my baby’s life. They took my heart away.”
Authorities said that the fatal drive-by shooting came in retaliation to another shooting that took place on Oct. 31. The suspects’ bond was set at $900,000 each.
