Authorities are investigating how a loving Virginia mom has ended up dead at a residence, miles away from the restaurant where she was last seen over the weekend.
Sheena West, 36, was hanging out with her friends at a tapas bar and restaurant on Saturday when she disappeared, leaving behind her wallet and phone.
Surveillance footage from the eatery showed her leaving with a complete stranger her friends did not recognize.
The next morning, the pals reported West missing only to be found dead on Tuesday, at a Norfolk residence, miles away from the restaurant.
Police rushed to the Ocean View home at around 8:30 a.m. over an unresponsive person. It was West, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The medical examiner is working to determine a cause of death, but investigators said foul play is not suspected in the death.
West worked for the Center for Animal Healing in Virginia Beach. The center closed on Wednesday as the victim’s colleagues mourned her passing.
“She was very passionate about her work here and had so much love for all her doggie patient. She was funny, positive, and such a sweet friend. She spoke so lovingly about her family, especially her son.”
