Colorado police probe serial murders after several missing person reports, human remains found in rural town

Authorities in Colorado are investigating several disturbing incidents that occurred in separate areas of Los Sauces rural town.

At least two sets of human remains were discovered in abandoned but neighboring properties in the rural community of Conejos County, near the New Mexico border.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation is working to identify the remains with the help of Monte Vista and Alamosa police departments. Conejos and Saguache counties’ authorities are also assisting with the probe.

  • On Sept. 19, the remains of 39-year-old Wilbert Archuleta were found in Los Sauces. The Aurora man went missing for nearly a month after he came to visit his father who lives in the area.

    Local authorities are still looking for another resident, Suzanne Morphew, who vanished after going for a bike ride in Chaffee County six months ago.

    The 49-year-old mother of two daughters never returned again and the CBI says that “all possibilities are being considered” regarding her disappearance.

    Monte Vista Police Chief George Dingfelder announced that a virtual press conference will be held later today to disclose more information.
