Florida authorities have charged superstar Lil Wayne with federal weapons charges in connection with last year's incident and he is now facing a decade in jail.

The US Attorney for the Southern District of Florida charged Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. with one count of possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon.

The incident occurred in December 2019 when federal agents swarmed the rapper’s plane amid drug possession reports at Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport.

Lil Wayne was present inside the jet where officers discovered heroin, cocaine, marijuana, and prescribed pills in addition to $26,000 in cash and a gold gun.

The artist was visibly intoxicated as officers questioned him, “based on his delayed speech and partially closed eyes.”

He told detectives the gold gun, a Remington 911, was a gift he received on Father’s Day, and he kept it inside his personal luggage.

The musician will stand before a judge over the charges next month. He recently made headlines appearing next to Donald Trump ahead of Election Day.

“Just had a great meeting with @realdonaldtrump @potus besides what he’s done so far with criminal reform, the platinum plan is going to give the community real ownership,” Lil Wayne tweeted.

“He listened to what we had to say today and assured he will and can get it done.”
