A Florida man was found dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound Friday night shortly after he called a relative and confessed to killing his wife.
Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputies found Weleska Gomez Baroeta’s body at around midnight Friday, three hours after her concerned relatives reported her missing.
Detectives determined that 31-year-old Franklin Vegas Delgado shot his wife inside a car in a downtown Tampa parking lot before fleeing the scene.
Minutes after finding Baroeta’s body, deputies were called to a nearby hotel and discovered Delgado dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
“Our hearts go out to the family and loved ones impacted by this heartbreaking tragedy,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister.
“This is an unimaginable loss and a painful reminder that violence is never the answer.”
