A Washington woman is behind bars after she allegedly admitted to killing her elderly landlord for asking her to pay the rent.
It was the 19-year-old suspect’s brother-in-law who alerted police to the crime on Friday telling King County authorities that the woman killed someone and showed the victim to her sister on a video call.
Deputies responded to the teen’s home but did not find her; they called about the allegations and she replied that “it was all a joke and that she was all the way in Everett with a friend.”
The suspect later admitted to killing her 73-year-old landlord claiming that the victim “struck her in the face” during an exchange about unpaid rent.
The suspect added that she stabbed the victim with a knife she found in the room after she “pulled her hair and the drawstring on her hoodie.”
Charging documents revealed that the suspect had recently been threatening to kill the landlord “if she asked her again about paying rent.”
