A Louisiana medical student is clinging to life after he was pushed to a lake by a girl on April 14.

Christopher Gilbert, 26, was left underwater for up to 20 minutes at Lake D’Arbonne where he was having fun with a group of friends who knew he couldn’t swim.

While the friends claimed the student “just kind of fell face first into the water,” a young woman later admitted to shoving him off the pier.

“He was being airlifted to Shreveport, and initially when my son got there the doctor called us in and told me that at this time he was brain dead pretty much and the rest of his organs were starting to fail,” the young man’s mother said.

No arrests were made in connection to the incident as Gilbert continues his fight for life.

“It’s still a battle because we don’t know what to expect,” the mother said.

“We don’t know if it may turn worse again because at one point, he was off the ventilator but then they put him back on two days later.”
