A Georgia babysitter is facing multiple charges after she allegedly strangled a one-year-old baby, “nearly killing” them, police in Gainesville said.
Abby Elizabeth Chosewood, 23, was charged with aggravated assault and cruelty to children over the alleged abuse of a child in her.
“In February 2023, Chosewood allegedly suffocated and/or strangled a one-year-old child causing bodily harm,” police said noting that the baby was nearly killed in the process.
Lt. Kevin Holbrook said that investigators spent the last few months gathering evidence against the suspect since they had no footage of the incident.
“It is unthinkable and there is nothing for us to go on exactly why this did happen,” he said.
“This is something that we may never know – as when the child obviously is too young to tell us the truth.”
“But obviously, Chosewood knows exactly what happened and hopefully it's all come in court,” Holbrook continued.
