Teen falls off 50-foot waterfall to death while on graduation trip

A Texas teen is dead after falling over a 50-foot waterfall during a graduation trip with his friend, officials said.

Grant Herridge, 18, died on June 8 after the freak accident at Olympic National Park in Washington.

Grant’s father said the victim left with his friend after graduating from high school to visit seven national parks across the country.

  • “He loved doing exciting, fun things,” he said. “He has a ring that he’s been wearing for several years, and the reason he got the ring was because of the saying that was inscribed in the ring that says, ‘While we wait for life, life passes.’”

    “We’ve just been so beside ourselves with grief.”

    The pastor thanked the community for the overwhelming support shown to his family during this time.

    “I always preach that in times of tragedy is where you see the kingdom of God the most because there’s just so much love, and I always believed it, but this past week I felt it.”
