Former R&B singer R. Kelly was rushed to the hospital last week after overdosing on prison medications.
The legal team of the disgraced artist claimed in a new court filing that the 58-year-old was given the medications last Thursday by prison staff while in solitary confinement.
He was taken to Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina, and was later discharged against medical advice.
The three-time Grammy winner is serving a 30-year sentence for racketeering and sex trafficking.
His attorneys said last week that they were “in open discussions with people close to President Trump” about a possible presidential pardon.
“We believe that President Trump is the only person with the courage to help us,” lawyer Beau Brindley said.
