A Tennessee girl is dead after her mother’s boyfriend opened fire at her and her family during an argument, police said.
Jovian Smith, 26, was fighting with his girlfriend, 41, who was driving her five children to a family member’s home.
Smith reportedly threw the woman’s phone and caused a crash after trying to grab the steering wheel of the vehicle, but the girlfriend managed to stop the minivan on the side of the road.
The suspect reportedly pulled out a gun and started shooting at the woman and her children, killing a 4-year-old girl.
Two of the other children were listed in critical condition. The woman was also hospitalized with serious injuries.
Smith was arrested and charged with criminal homicide, three counts of aggravated assault, and one count of aggravated burglary.
