An elderly resident at an assisted living facility in South Carolina is accused of fatally assaulting a fellow resident early Thursday.
Officers with the North Charleston Police Department responded to the assault at the North Haven Residential Home at around 5:30 a.m.

The victim died at the scene despite first responders’ efforts. His name was not immediately made public.
84-year-old Harry Rivers was arrested and charged with murder. Investigators said he beat the victim to death but a motive remains unclear.
