A little over two years after their marriage, Jennifer Lopez has filed for divorce from husband Ben Affleck, court records revealed.
For several weeks, rumors swirled over Lopez and Affleck’s split-up until Tuesday, when Lopez filed for divorce in Los Angeles County Superior Court on the second anniversary of the doomed marriage.
The rumors were sparked in May when Lopez canceled her summer tour ‘This Is Me…Live’ and explained that it was to “be with her children, family and close friends.”
Last month, the couple listed their 38,000-square-foot Beverley Hills estate for sale.
However, Lopez seemed to keep a good relationship with Affleck throughout the breakup process; she was spotted at his Brentwood rental home on August 15, likely to celebrate his birthday.
“The relationship between Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck has always been somewhat volatile,” said Vanessa Lloyd Platt, the proprietor of legal firm Lloyd Platt&Co.
“This has meant that Jennifer Lopez’s fortune which is estimated to be in the region of $400 million compared with Ben Affleck’s at $150 million may potentially be at risk.”
