Carter County news, Tennessee news.

While serving a warrant on an abuse of a vulnerable adult charge this week, Carter County deputies made a shocking discovery.

A 7-year-old boy with autism was on Thursday found living in a storage trunk in “unsanitary” conditions at his parents’ home in the 300 block of Blevins Hollow Road in Elizabethton.

Mikki Dee Moody, 36, and Sean David Moody, 39, were arrested on child abuse and neglect charges for keeping the non-verbal boy inside a brown storage locker in the living room.

“The trunk contained urine-soaked blankets, a pillow, half-eaten pizza, and clothing that contained a substance consistent with blood,” Sheriff’s investigator Preston White said.

White explained that throughout the home, deputies found exposed wiring and animal and human feces.

Deputies were at the Moodys’ home in connection to allegations Sean Moody abused his disabled sister earlier this month.

“During the investigation, agents determined that the victim was being abused by her brother, Sean Moody, who also served as her caregiver,” authorities said.
