A Louisiana toddler was found dead in a field on Monday afternoon after he wandered away from his home with an older child.
Police believe that Da’Angelo Manning was attacked by a mystery animal after he and a four-year-old wandered away from the property.
The older child was found half a mile away and treated for scratches; The search for Da’Angelo continued through the afternoon before he was found, dead.
Investigators are trying to determine what animal attacked the child as they await autopsy results.
Da’Angelo’s mom posted a heartbreaking statement mourning her son’s untimely passing.
“I’m trying to keep calm for your brothers, I hate so much that you didn’t meet your brother, that I didn’t hold you one last time, kissed you, and said I love you because I love you, son, I’m so hurt and so mad. I just don’t know how to get through this baby I’m so sorry.”
