An Ohio couple is devastated after their daughter died accidentally a few days before she was set to leave the hospital with them.
Ellieana J. Peyton suffered from a condition called cardiomyopathy and needed to stay at the NICU for several days after her March 4 birth.
The baby’s parents were preparing to welcome her home when they received a phone call reporting a deadly accident that claimed her life.
“The hospital nurse put the cords hooked to my daughter in her pocket and forgot she had the cords in her pocket and dragged my daughter out of bed when she went to go leaves,” mother Mackenzie Peyton said.
“She already had a 20 percent chance of life, and this hospital wants to be so careless and be so dumb with a NEWBORN BABY.”
The fall caused Ellieana a fatal skull fracture and severe bleeding. Her cause of death was determined as “congenital dilated cardiomyopathy complicated by blunt force head injuries.”
“I left for [an] hour to come take a shower and get the worst phone call no parent should ever receive when [they’re] supposed to be helping her and taking care of her,” the mother said.
“Been mad at the world since the day I walked out of the hospital without my baby.”
