Shed roof collapses, killing man in Brooklyn

A roof collapse in Brooklyn has claimed the life of a 43-year-old man on Thursday morning, officials said.

The incident occurred at the corner of Quentin Road and E. 33rd St. in Marine Park at around 8:50 a.m.

  • The victim was reportedly inside a shed behind a building under construction when the shed’s roof, which contained an HVAC system, collapsed on him.

    Firefighters responded to the scene and removed the man from the rubble before taking him to Brookdale University Medical Center, where he died.

    The Department of Buildings and the Office of Emergency Management are investigating the cause of the collapse that occurred in a “rear setback of the building.”
