Three University of Wyoming swimmers were killed in a single-car crash while traveling on a Colorado highway late Thursday.
The students, aged 18-year-old woman; and two men aged 21 and 22, were driving southbound on US-287, 25 miles north of Fort Collins, Colorado when the driver went off the road causing the vehicle to roll several times at around 2:44 p.m.
Two victims were ejected from the vehicle and two others survived the ordeal with non-life-threatening injuries.
“We are heartsick at the news of this terrible tragedy for our university, our state, our student-athlete community, and, most importantly, the families and friends of these young people,” UW President Ed Seidel said.
“Words are insufficient to express our sadness.”
