Innocent bystander gunned down in Queens as gunmen targeted another person

A 37-year-old Queens resident was fatally shot near her home when she came on the way of a pair of gunmen targeting another victim late Friday.

Gudelia Vallinas was shot in the head as she stood near the Woodside Housing Authority project just after 8 p.m., police said.

Surveillance cameras from nearby stores caught gunmen running after a man before opening fire three to seven times.

  • One bullet struck Vallinas’ head. She was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

    “There were seven shots and I went down under the counter. A woman was shot. The blood was running down the sidewalk by the subway vents,” a witness recalled.

    The suspects fled the scene and were listed on the loose as of Saturday. It was not clear if there were other victims following the shooting.
