Argentina news, World news.

Authorities in Argentina have identified human remains found in a suitcase by kids playing by a stream on Sunday as a missing millionaire and crypto influencer.

Fernando Perez Algaba, 41, vanished days earlier during a trip to Argentina and failed to return the keys of his rental residence to the property owner as he was supposed to do on July 19.

The gruesome discovery of Algaba's remains was made in the Buenos Aires suburb of Ingeniero Budge. Detectives found the victim's legs and forearm inside a suitcase while his other arm was located in the stream.

By Wednesday, more body parts including the head and torso were found; detectives revealed that the dismembered body parts were cleanly chopped up indicating the work of a professional killer.

  • An autopsy showed that Algaba was shot at least three times before the dismemberment. He was positively identified through fingerprints and distinctive tattoos.

Algaba resided in Barcelona and had only been in Argentina for a week before the slaying. The man worked hard since he was 14 starting with “selling sandwiches” to trading high-end cars, motorcycles, and jet skis by the age of 24.

In recent years, Algaba faced financial troubles after investing in cryptocurrency and amassing “irrecoverable” debts. He reportedly left notes claiming that he was targeted by a violent Argentinian gang demanding he pays them $40,000 in loans.

“If something happens to me, everyone is already warned,” the late businessman wrote in the note.
