St. Charles Parish news, Louisiana news.

St. Charles Parish officers have arrested a child in connection with the death of her baby brother who was found unresponsive at the family home on Nov. 15.

Authorities are not disclosing much information due to the suspect and victim being juveniles but said that the 6-month-old boy’s death was officially ruled a homicide.

When responding cops arrived at the home, the boy was already dead. They unsuccessfully tried to revive him and arrested his 12-year-old sister for murdering him.

“Through an in-depth and still ongoing investigation, sufficient evidence was obtained to request an arrest warrant in relation to First Degree Murder, which was granted by the 29th Judicial District Court Honorable Judge Connie Aucoin,” a police statement said.

“This is a horrific and tragic situation,” Sheriff Greg Champagne said. “The homicide did not involve the use of a dangerous weapon. Due to the sensitivity of both victim and suspect being juveniles, we are unable to comment any further.”

The aunt of the sibling spoke out about the incident: “He was perfect. He was a beautiful baby, and she loved her brother.”

“This is a mother who’s lost two children, not just one. That’s both of her children. People are very, very judgmental. But sometimes, you’ve got to look within. It could be you tomorrow.”
