New York news, US news.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio came up with protections and initiatives for businesses, workers, and consumers now that his city is planning for a phase one restart during the first or second week of June.

De Blasio announced that the city is making sure that businesses are ready to reopen. He said that masks are necessary for all employees and customers so that every business succeeds and stays safe.

The NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection, Small Business Services, and Citywide Administrative Services will deliver 2 million face coverings for businesses and workers with more to come.

De Blasio said that the city's goal is to see businesses succeeding, adding that it would be one less thing to worry about and make the reopening a little easier. He added that to secure a strong restart, the city has to make sure businesses come back quickly and effectively.

The mayor said that he will make sure that businesses have enough supply of cleaning fluids to get at an affordable price.

New York's mayor said that the city’s Department of Consumer and Worker Protection will send teams out to talk directly to people working with unions, worker centers, and immigrant rights organizations. They are planning to gather insights, listen to their needs, and give them the useful and necessary information.

A worker protection hotline will be launched next week.

De Blasio announced that starting next week, New York will have a testing initiative that will focus particularly on non-profit staff to reach nearly 31,0000 nonprofit human service provider staff beginning June 1.

These tests are voluntary and the city intends to provide up to 4,000 a day. Mobile testing sites will be launched mid-June.
