Newsom delivers teary address as Trump prepares to deploy ICE units to several cities

California Governor Gavin Newsom nearly broke into tears while delivering a nationally televised address accusing President Donald Trump of threatening Democracy through commandeering the National Guard.

Trump plans to deploy ICE tactical units to five Democrat-run cities, including Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago, Seattle, Philadelphia, and northern Virginia.

The LA mayor ordered a lockdown from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. as ICE raids and protests continue to wreak havoc across the city.

    “Look, this isn’t just about protests here in Los Angeles, when Donald Trump sought blanket authority to commandeer the National Guard. He made that order apply to every state in this nation,” an emotional Newsom said.

    “This is about all of us. This is about you. California may be first, but it clearly will not end here. Other states are next. Democracy is next. Democracy is under assault before our eyes; this moment we have feared has arrived.”

    “What Donald Trump wants most is your fealty, your silence, to be complicit in this moment. Do not give in to him.”
