Four family members were arrested after an 11-year-old boy was found dead with signs of physical abuse on Monday.
First responders responded to a Wylie home Monday evening, where they found the boy unresponsive and rushed him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
An investigation led Wylie Police to arrest the boy’s grandfather, aunt, and two cousins on charges of injury to a child and abandoning and endangering a child.
The suspects were identified as Clifford Johnson, 67; Eunice Johnson-Lightsey, 46; Sade Hope-Johnson York, 30; and Sadie Hope, 28.
Police removed other children found living in the home. The boy’s cause of death remains unclear.
“The stories the families were giving us were inconsistent. There were physical injuries on the young man, so that combination led us to dig deeper,” said Sgt. Donald English.
“To see a young man lose his life from a family member, that’s disgusting. There were other kids in the house that possibly witnessed something and are stuck with this for the rest of their life.”
