Fisherman finds body floating in Austin’s Lady Bird Lake

Authorities in Austin, Texas recovered a deceased person’s body from Lady Bird Lake Saturday morning in what they said was not a homicide case.

A fisherman called 911 at around 7:30 a.m. after spotting a body floating in the lake in the area of Krieg Field at 512 S. Pleasant Valley Road near Longhorn Dam.

Officers recovered the body and declared the person dead at 7:52 a.m.

  • Police said that no identification was on the “possibly male” victim. Homicide detectives responded to the scene although the death was not considered a homicide.

    “At this time, this is not being investigated as a homicide; it is being investigated as a deceased person, and the steps being taken are normal operating procedures,” Officer Austin Zarling said.

    Saturday’s finding is the second of a deceased person in the area of Lady Bird Lake this week. Another body was found near the Lamar Street Bridge on Tuesday.
