Tennessee dad admits ‘zoning out’ when he shook infant so badly that his brain stopped functioning

A 20-year-old father was charged with first-degree murder after his 5-week-old son passed away at a hospital Tuesday from severe head trauma.

Joshua R. Lane brought his unresponsive infant son to the hospital Sunday where he was stabilized before being transferred to the Monroe Carrel Jr. Children’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

    Lane admitted to zoning out and possibly hurting the baby by brutally shaking him.

    Lane was initially charged with aggravated child abuse before his charges were upgraded to murder. He is reportedly ineligible for release being accused of a separate domestic violence incident.
