Texas man who was mauled by dogs, had both legs amputated, succumbs to injuries

A Huffman, Texas man died Sunday at a hospital days after a pack of three dogs attacked him while he walked on June 9.

51-year-old Nicolas Vasquez had both legs amputated since the mauling incident involving three pit bull mixes that live near his home.

  • “His one leg was torn down to the bone,” a resident who tended to the injured man said.

    Another person told reporters that the ferocious dogs had been attacking and chasing children in the area and even forced the removal of a bus stop to prevent such a tragedy.

    Vasquez, who suffered from liver failure, had previously been attacked by the dogs but survived. Harris County Animal Control has the canines in quarantine as the investigation continues.
