A Lynn woman and her husband were found dead Thursday in an apparent murder-suicide incident that came weeks after she had obtained a restraining order against him, police said.
Yajaira Suarez, 31, and Jessie Mitchell, 46, were both pronounced dead in a Mudge Street apartment. Detectives believe the estranged husband shot Suarez dead before taking his own life.
“She gave part of her life for her country and the other part to forge the road for her kids to success,” Suarez’s sister said about the retired Marine who served overseas in Japan.
“She was finally starting to see the fruits of her hard work, and her life was cut short.”
A cousin of the slain mom added that the family’s focus now will be on her two beloved children.
“Everyone loved her. Everyone. She lit up a room wherever she went. Unfortunately, we lost somebody that we really love and depended on.”
