Lafayette authorities arrested a suspect after he allegedly shot dead his 68-year-old father Sunday, police said.
According to records, the arrest of 31-year-old Ernest J. White III, happened while officials were responding to an emergency call claiming a shooting located in the 400 block of Edison Street around 3 p.m. Upon their arrival, responding officers discovered Ernest J. White Jr. dead from multiples gunshot wounds he sustained.
White III was formally charged with several counts including first-degree murder, violation of a protective order and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, media sources said.
His next court hearing is scheduled on Tuesday.
