A Mississippi man died this week after he tried an electricity experiment he watched on social media, authorities said.

“Our 911 dispatch received a call that a gentleman had been electrocuted,” Clarke County Sheriff Anthony Chancelor said.

“Responders made it to the scene and ultimately came to the conclusion that the gentleman had been electrocuted and after a brief investigation, it appeared that he had been watching some videos on YouTube or TikTok or some other social media.”

“If you are not trained to deal with electrical current or electricity, always use the safe method of de-energizing by turning off your breakers or calling a professional to help you with that,” said EMEPA Safety and Training Coordinator David Akin.
