Clifton news, Virginia news.

Two siblings were killed in a tragic house fire in Virginia earlier this month and their family revealed the older boy was protecting his toddler brother before their death.

Fire tore through James Brice’s home in Clifton trapping his two sons, aged 6 and 3, on the second floor.

The grieving father said that firefighters quickly located the brothers despite the thick smoke and raging flames.

“As dark as the house was, they could see them clearly somehow, which was really special, to what we believe, thinking that God had put his mercy around them,” he said.

The father was not surprised recalling how William vowed to protect little Zachariah when he was born.

“We knew that was his character. If he wanted to leave the house, he could have, but we believe that he saw his brother in trouble and he went back to protect him.”

The family decided to donate the boys’ organs following their passing last week.

“Their hearts are hopefully going to go on and the recipients are going to be able to have those big hearts,” Brice added.
