Ocean news, Maryland news.

Ocean City police arrested a wanted man in Florida following an alleged attack on a federally protected pelican that was documented by video footage.

An arrest warrant was filed for William Hunter Hardesty, 31, after a video emerged of him at Florida's Key West Historic Seaport on March 5 attempting unsuccessfully to catch the bird before he nipped him and flew away without being hurt, according to Maryland State Police.

Hardesty reportedly posted online the video of the incident in his Facebook page three days later.

He remains in the Worcester County Detention Center as he expected extradition to Florida. He faces animal cruelty to migratory birds and intentional feeding of pelicans.
