On Monday, an Illinois man has been sentenced to 15 years behind bars for allegedly firing into a grave during a burial service on November 22, 2017.

57-year-old Elston Stevenson also shouted “You got what you deserved” at the grave of Murad Talib who was gunned down in his driveway. Talib had been shot several times in a targeted shooting, investigators said.

“When a felon brings a loaded gun to a populated area and uses the gun to threaten and endanger strangers, this conduct will not be tolerated,” prosecutors said. “The mourners were all in the immediate vicinity of the defendant when he produced the loaded weapon and were placed in danger by the defendant’s reckless firing of the weapon into the gravesite.”
