Oregon news.

A 30-year-old single mom has her charges reduced to first-degree manslaughter after her attorney documented her mental illness and prosecutors decided she was “in an extreme emotional state” when she killed her disabled son and took 200 pills to die.

Tashina Jordan was unresponsive when she was discovered next to her son’s body at her mom’s house where the pair lived. At the scene, detectives recovered a suicide note: “I tried to shoot myself too but the gun stopped working so I took 200 or more pills. He knows I love him. I hope this works.”

Jordan’s son, Mason, had health issues and become disabled when still an infant. He couldn’t talk or feed and needed constant care. His mother was struggling to cope after his father left them behind. She was described as a “loving and devoted” mom.
