Texas teen admits to whacking friend with hammer; stabbing her to death in ‘fit of rage’

A Texas teen was arrested Tuesday after he confessed in detail to a gruesome killing that took place hours earlier.

Jamaurea Jermaine Britton, 19, admitted to whacking 18-year-old Dejah Hood’s head with a hammer and then stabbing her to death when she survived the initial attack.

Hood’s body was found wrapped in trash bags and a bedsheet in a creek behind Britton’s apartment complex.

Britton told detectives that Hood was helping him pack for a move and brought a 1-year-old baby she was babysitting with her.

At some point, the suspect started thinking of a recent break-up and grew “angrier and angrier” when Hood walked over to him and “playfully tugged on his ear.”

  • The action, that Britton’s ex used to do, put him in a “fit of rage”, he told detectives; he then grabbed a glass bottle and beat Hood’s head knocking her to the ground.

    Britton punched, strangled, and used a hammer to hit the high schooler’s head to the point its wooden handle snapped off.

    He was interrupted by a neighbor checking on him after hearing commotion; He also took the 1-year-old child left in his apartment to Hood’s mother’s home.

    When he returned home, Britton discovered that Hood was still alive, uttering his name. He grabbed a knife and stabbed her to death.

    Britton was arrested on murder and terroristic threats of family/household charges.
