Convicted newlywed's killer set to die in Texas

5years ago

Alvin Braziel Jr., the row inmate who killed a newlywed during robbery is to be executed by lethal injection Tuesday evening, according to Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

Douglas White, was 27-year-old when he was attacked by the suspect in 1993, as he and his wife walked on a jogging trail near a Dallas area Community College. Braziel shot the victim once in the head and once in his heart. The couple had been married for only 10 days when the suspect jumped out from some bushes with a pistol and demanded money.

The lead detective who investigated the case said that "the last thing Doug said was please God, dont let him hurt Lora."

Braziel lawyers asked Texas Court to stop his execution because he is intellectually disabled. The suspect's appeals were turned down.
