A detainee died at the Bexar County Adult Detention Center, the Bexar County Sheriff's Office said.
The inmate, identified as Rondell Lee Peterson, was 35 years old and had been sentenced to two arrest warrants for child sexual abuse and trafficking.
BCSO stated that Peterson attempted to hang himself on Saturday, November 2nd. A deputy, who passed Peterson's cell, intervened using his cutting tool to stop the attempt.
Medical staff tried CPR, but Peterson did not respond. He was taken to the University Hospital where he was treated.
Peterson's family made the decision to take away his life support and he was pronounced dead on Sunday.
